September 24, 2009--Local efforts to establish programs under Assembly Bill 811 promise to make it easier for property owners to finance solar panels and other renewable-energy improvements, greatly increasing property values, creating jobs and helping the environment.
In Placer County, treasurer-tax collector Jenine Windeshausen will soon propose a countywide program that would use $30 million to fund renewable and energy-efficient projects, ranging from solar-energy systems to insulation and energy-efficient windows and doors.
“We would include the unincorporated area and offer it to all cities for participation,” Windeshausen said. “I’m optimistic that the cities will be interested, particularly Roseville.”
Windeshausen plans to propose the program to the county Board of Supervisors within the next 30 days.
