Getting Started

PowerHouse and our partners will help you implement your renewable energy, energy efficiency and/or water efficiency PACE lending program. The first step is to identify a municipal “team leader” or project manager who will be responsible for coordinating with both internal personnel and PowerHouse. The team leader should ensure:

  1. Appropriate elected officials (Mayor’s office or County elected officials) and staff are interested in implementing a renewable energy, energy efficiency and/or water efficiency municipal lending program;
  2. A commitment is obtained from the appropriate staff and elected officials indicating the intent to move forward;
  3. A determination is made as to whether the city/county plans on running the entire program internally or if will be provided by a service provider such as PowerHouse;
  4. Interviews are held with various service providers;
  5. The city or county can issue an RFP/RFQ for a service provider to finance and manage your program; and,
  6. Your service provider is selected.

Managing expectations within your community is important, and, consequently, we do not recommend adopting ordinances or introducing a program until you have determined the scope of your program and identified a funding source.
